A lot can be said for “Trial and Error”. When I first set off on being a health and wellness coach, I already had years of experience as a personal trainer, martial arts instructor, and fight team coach. I thought I knew everything I needed to know about getting my clients to reach their desired outcomes. I just thought I’d send some emails and get people on the phone. But, I was very wrong. It was too easy for information to get missed, lost in a jumble, or even deleted by mistake. What I needed to make every day a success for my clients was a surefire system to deliver a comprehensive coaching experience…not just information. Here’s how I designed my unforgettable coaching client experience!
Building A Better Coaching Program
The first thing I wanted to do was bring as much of my coaching experience at a client’s finger tips as possible…and all in one place. Whether I was working with someone in person or virtually, I wanted everything to be easily accessible. Your weekly worksheets, videos, where to schedule your coaching sessions, how to log in and do your workouts, etc., all needed to be as easy as possible to access. And, everything had to be organized in a manner where you could separate each weekly session.
So, I set about building a client dashboard system for my website. That was the easy part, actually. I’m quite tech savvy, and it was both fun and challenging to get everything laid out the way I wanted it to look and feel. Creating a program that flowed well in this space was the hard part.
In my 12-week Signature Transformation Program we spend time each week focusing on following a “road map” I have put together to get my clients from point A to Z in their healthy habit changes. I needed to incorporate the concepts of eating for your unique body type, creating new habits, breaking through limiting factors, and recognizing self sabotage in a way that they build upon themselves in a progression. This does several things. Firstly, it builds a basic “spine” for the program that we can then freestyle on if any changes or challenges present them selves. It also makes that progression I mentioned easier to achieve, because we sort of have a core curriculum to follow.
I like to think of it as getting a black belt in martial arts. You have to start with learning the principles and techniques of white belt before you move on to the next rank. While all of my coaching clients need “black belt level” coaching right away to reach their weight loss and fitness goals, giving them the entire program at once would do more harm than good. Basically…they haven’t earned their white belt yet. How can they pass a black belt test?

Personalized Fitness Programming
The next step was having a way for clients to get access to their fitness program. Each client has a personalized training program…so, I didn’t want to just post workout videos in the client dashboard. I needed my coaching clients to be able to see their workouts on a schedule, and have follow along video instruction, two-way messaging with me, and be able to track their stats. As much as I wanted everything to remain in house, that required a separate app to accomplish. I found a company that could produce an app that covered all of that, plus many more features.
With the Signature Transformation Program you can access your personal training program from anywhere in the world and on any device. This is a great way for me to stay in touch and monitoring your workout progress when you are not at our private fitness studio in La Grange, KY. Most of our local clients join me for in person training once per week, while my virtual clients meet with me once per week via Zoom. Both of them use the training app for their workouts in between live sessions. And everyone loves it! You can sync up your FitBit or Apple Watch, and hear the videos and instruction through your headphones if you wish.
