Over 40 Male Nutritional Supplements
I recently made some new friends over at Next Level Sports Nutrition in Louisville, KY. Co-Owner, Sean Davis, invited me to come by and talk in depth about what he thought would be good nutritional supplementation for men in their 40s and 50s. I wanted to discuss solving problems that guys our age have. I wasn’t interested in hard-core bodybuilding supplements, or products designed for general consumption. I wanted specific nutrition to fit the needs of the Over 40 Male fitness enthusiast. He Delivered! This article will feature two of the supplements we discussed while I was there, D-Aspartic Acid from NutraKey Health Performance and Cort-Eaze from NuEthix Formulations
Cort-Eaze from NuEthix
Like I said, Cortisol is a stress hormone, and is the natural sworn enemy of Testosterone. Studies have shown that higher levels of cortisol result in even lower levels of testosterone. As men get older, we naturally produce less testosterone. That being said…we don’t have any to spare to the stress created by everyday living and exercise. Cort-Eaze helps your body resist and recover from the side effects of that stress.
I’ve been taking two capsules with my first meal of the day. I can’t tell you if I feel more relaxed throughout the day, but I have been experiencing very deep sleep with vividly detailed dreams. Deep REM sleep is critical to recovery. I know quite a bit about that sort of thing, as I suffered with sleep apnea for years.
D-Aspartic Acid from NutraKey
I typically roll my eyes whenever I hear someone use the term “Testosterone Booster”. According to Sean, so do they. That’s why he was excited about the research he had done on D-Aspartic Acid (D-AA), and it’s effects on the body. DAA is found naturally in the testes, pituitary gland, and the hypothalamus. D-Aspartic Acid has a critical role in the production and regulation of male hormones that directly affect athletic performance and muscle size. It is a natural way to give a boost to testosterone and growth hormone levels without having significant increases in estrogen production.
Micro Factor from 1st Phorm
Micro Factor provides the body with a full spectrum of nutrients to not only optimize everyday function and overall health, but to also aid in recovery. In one daily pack it provides a complete multivitamin, antioxidants, CoQ-10, as well as a blend of essential fatty acids and probiotics for gut health. The guys at Next Level love this one, because it provides everything they would recommend that you take daily for about half the price it would cost to buy each bottle individually.
Con Crete from ProMera Sports
Con Crete is 100% Creatine Hydrochloride, a form of creatine that is 64 times more soluble than regular creatine monohydrate. This means that you can take less of it, and still get great results in muscular endurance, size, and recovery. Plus, with Con Crete there’s non of that nasty water retention and cramping that can come from a result of taking regular creatine monohydrate. As we age, we naturally have less muscle mass and muscular endurance. Taking a quality creatine supplement can help in both of those departments.
More To Come
Sean and I, along with his store manager Stephen, spent about an hour in the store. We went over about 10 products in total that I’ll be adding to this post weekly. I’ll also be sharing some insight into any of the products that I happen to be taking. So…keep watching this space for weekly updates! Also, please follow our friends at Next Level Nutrition on Facebook and Instagram!
If you don’t know where to start, I’m here for you. Each and every week I set aside times for what I call Success Strategy Sessions. These short (and FREE!) coaching calls are designed to get you moving toward your goals and reaching them at lightening speed. During the call we’ll talk about where you currently are, where you’d like to be, and come up with some quick actionable steps you can take right away.
These calls are FREE, but I only have a limited amount of time to do them each and every week. They are “first-come-first-serve”. If you’d like to schedule a free Success Strategy Session CLICK HERE!
